1. Bughouse is played in pairs on two chessboards of different colours.
2. The FIDE rules for blitz chess apply, except for the rules described below.
3. Captured pieces are passed to your partner. (A captured piece can be used by your partner at the end of the capture move – by pressing the clock.)
4. Placing a piece on your chessboard is considered a move.
5. A piece of the colour being played may be placed on any square, except for the pown, which cannot be placed on the 1st or 8th rank.
6. Dotkniętą bierką nie trzeba wykonać posunięcia.
7. A piece that has been touched does not have to be moved.
8. Placing the rook in its starting position allows castling if the king has not moved before.
9. Clocks must be set up so that the time is visible to all four players playing the match.
10. When starting the match, both clocks should be started simultaneously.
11. The pieces held in your hand must be visible to your opponent, otherwise they have the right to press the clock and demand that you show your pieces.
12. When promoting a pawn, the player must say aloud what they are promoting the pawn to.
13. The promoted piece moves as a pawn after being captured.
14. If a player captures a piece that their partner is checkmating (in one move) and is then checkmated themselves (in one move), it is a draw.
15. A checkmate with a knight, from a double check or given by a piece standing directly next to the attacked king, immediately ends the match.
16. The end of a game on one board ends the match.
17. Repeating the same position on the chessboard three times ends the game in a draw.
18. The first illegal move loses.
19. In the event of a dispute, players stop the time on both clocks and await the referee’s decision.
